 EFT Tapping Procedure--Basic Recipe

EFT is a deceptively simple 4-step process.  In the first half, we bring the issue or problem or symptom you're working on out in the open.  And we try to be as specific as possible in our wording.   In the second part we tap on the end points of several meridians.  While we have fourteen major meridians in our body, we need tap on the end points of only 8 of them for us to achieve relief in a good many cases.

Step One--Take an intensity reading.  On a scale of 0-10, how bad is it? (10="horrible!" and   Zero="no problem!")

Step Two--While tapping on the Karate Chop point (that fleshy part at the side of your hand), say the following 3 times:   "Even though I have this (problem, feeling, issue), I deeply and completely accept myself."

For example, if you were working on a headache, you  might say, "Even though I have a stabbing pain in the back of my head behind my ears, I deeply and completely accept myself."                         Or for grief over your dog dying, you might say, "Even though I can't stop crying over my puppy dying, I deeply and completely accept myself."     The point to remember is Be Specific.   The first part of the statement changes with the issue you're working on; the second part ("I deeply and completely accept myself") stays the same, no matter what your problem.

Step Three --tap 7-8 times on the end points of 8 major meridians, following this order:  #1 Inside eyebrow; #2 side of eye; #3 under eye; #4 under nose; #5 below lower lip; #6 collarbone point; #7under arm; #8 top of head.

Step Four-- Take another intensity reading. On a scale of 0-10, how bad is it?  If it's not down to Zero, do Steps Two and Three again, modifying the opening statement to reflect what's left to work on; e.g. "Even though I still feel some grief (or "Even though my grief is still around a 5"), I deeply and completely accept myself"  Keep going until your intesity level is at Zero.  It can be done--be persistent!
